STATEMENT BY RT. HON. RAILA ODINGA ON PLANNED IMPORTATION OF GMO MAIZE: NOVEMBER 20, 2022. After hurriedly lifting the ban on GMO foods, the UDA administration has now authorized the duty-free importation of 10 million bags of genetically modified maize for at least six months. We in Azimio La Umoja want to state categorically that this decision – which has been made without deliberation or public participation – will have far reaching and catastrophic implications for Kenya’s agriculture, the health of the Kenyan people and our environment. We consider the decision to lift ban on GMO foods and their importation a betrayal to our country. On this, the Ruto administration is not working for Kenya. He is being is puppet, working for the foreign nations and their multinationals against our interest as a nation. I Influenced Kenya Kwanza MPs To Vote For Kanini Kega- DP Gachagua On EALA Elections

Image
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has argued that he convinced MPs for former Kieni MP Kanini Kega to get elected to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Speaking on Friday while attending a funeral in Chuka, Tharaka Nithi County, DP Gachagua claimed that he convinced the Kenya Kwanza MPs to vote for Kega, who is allied to the Jubilee Party under the Azimio coalition. “Jana mmeona mimi nimeongea na hawa viongozi wa Mlima na kuwaambia huyu Kanini Kega alikuwa anatukana Ruto…lakini wampigie kura. Si wamempigia?" He posed“ Hiyo ndio Kenya mpya tuko nayo.” ("I spoke to the leaders from the mountain, I told them Kanini Kega was insulting me and President William Ruto (but) they should just vote for him. Did they or did they not vote for him? That is the new Kenya we want.”) Gachagua went on to urge the MPs from the Mount Kenya region to unite in support of the government, saying that the political season had ended.
